Catching up, without overdoing it

Today is New Year’s Eve, the eve of the first day of the Lunar New Year, which is a bit “abrupt” to me. Especially this year, because I really don’t feel too many New Year elements. Especially during the Chinese New Year, the excitement that it should have is really not enough at all.

There were not many firecrackers on the street, and they were even somewhat silent; the New Year exclusive BGM on the streets and alleys was also much less frequent, and even Andy Lau came to New Year’s Eve in a daze without being unfrozen a few times.

According to custom, it is necessary to go home on this day to post couplets and hang lanterns. I took my younger brother home and helped my family with the things we divided into tasks: shoveling snow and cleaning. I bought some firecrackers and fireworks to set off, trying to make this year’s Spring Festival more exciting. But the boring thing is that as I grow older, I don’t have the same energy for entertainment as I did when I was a child.

Maybe it’s a different way of entertainment? At least now I will regard those forms of entertainment in the past as a waste of time and nonsense. This idea may be right, at least that’s what I thought before I thought about it more.

But now I just feel that it is just a manifestation of incomplete thinking and bias. Spending half a day chatting with old friends is not a waste of time, but a waste of precious time to upgrade and iterate our previous friendships with old friends. An encounter simply for the sake of meeting is actually the most serious emotional warning sign. This afternoon, my old friend came to see me right after lunch. As I was about to go somewhere else, I had to treat this meeting in a utilitarian manner with a “rush for time” mentality.

In the beginning, I was superficial and chatted casually. But I feel more and more embarrassed that I am doing this. After all, not everything needs to be “catch up with progress”. In some fields, wouldn’t it be inappropriate to do so? That is simply a fatal operation.

However, although today is generally busy, I still managed to get some things done today. For example, the IP address on Google play was successfully changed to the United States instead of Hong Kong; two alternatives that could better replace the American virtual bank card were found; and with the help of an agent, a Python script was developed to search for specified content information.
